Anni Venti by Cantina di Marzo is the only existing Greco di Tufo spumante DOCG.
And this is just one of the incredible facts of this wine.
Its history started in the twenties when the devastating Phylloxera was bringing wine growers to their knees and Cantine di Marzo was providing the “first aid” to their French cousins in difficulty, by shipping bulk wine made from Greco to the Champagne region!!
It was 1926 and the first Greco di Tufo Spumante Metodo Classico was born from the intuition of Fiore Bottiglieri, Cantine di Marzo’s winemaker. The “metodo classico” is the same method that the French use to produce champagne with a second fermentation in the bottle, something quite new for the Italian producers at that time.
Nowadays, to honor that incredible story, Cantine di Marzo decided to re-create this original sparkling wine, in the past named Torre Favale, and to call it Anni Venti (litteraly meaning “the twenties”) in remembrance of the decade when it was born.
100% Greco grapes, 36 months on lees, riddled and disgorged on site, this Greco di Tufo Spumante DOCG is a triumph of finesse, minerality and fresh acidity. The Greco features are very apparent, the golden color and the appealing hints of dry fruits, nut and almond. It is relatively full bodied for a white wine and its perlage is fine and persistent.
It is particularly pleasant as an aperitivo yet it has enough structure to be enjoyed with more sophisticated dishes of fish and white meats.
Another great wine loved, selected and imported by Omniwines for you.
